Process
Process, choreographed by Jasmin Hamblin, showcases the conception, stages, and results of the creative process. According to the neurologist, Stavia Blunt, the creative process comes in two phases: the inspiration phase, in which one experiences creative insight through spontaneity, and verification, where the creative mind strives towards a conceptualized form of art that is no longer metaphysical. Despite this two step tactic, the creative process is not linear. Spontaneous ideas may come to fruition or the artist may start from scratch. The end result is a masterpiece that originates deep from the individual's creative psyche. This feeling of tension and release is represented in the minimalist texture. After its premiere at Variance Dance Concert at CSULB, it was one of the few pieces selected and performed at the Academy of Dance Association Baja Region Conference (March 2020).
