Shaye Swanson is a composer, arranger, and vocalist from Los Angeles, California. She earned her M.M. in Music Composition from the Bob Cole Conservatory of Music and her B.M. in Vocal Performance from Lawrence University. During her graduate studies, her composition, Les échos, was commissioned by the chamber group, Vis-à-Vis. The following year, Les échos was programmed in the chamber group’s North and South American tours (2018/2019). As a film composer, Shaye scored the documentary short, Faith Alone, which was selected to premiere at 5 nationwide film festivals including: Translations: Seattle Transgender Film Festival and KCET’s Fine Cut (2019 & 2020). After her graduate studies, she had the opportunity to score her first feature film, the documentary, Road to 50 Miles, which premiered at La Femme International Film Festival in Los Angeles, Ca (2020) and was recently premiered at Hollywood Screenings Festival in Hollywood, Ca (2021). In addition to her chamber works and film scores, Shaye has written music to choreographed dance, including Process, which was selected and performed at the American College Dance Association Baja Conference (2020). Shaye was recently awarded an artist residency at Dartmouth College in which her composition to the play, Interior, will be workshopped at Vox Theater. She composed music for the film, Self, which won the audience award for best narrative short, at SF Indie Film Festival (2022). Shaye continues to pursue compositional projects in multiple mediums lending her voice to all creative endeavors.
